Election Expenses and Campaign Methods for Candidates
in the Elections Members of Bangkok Metropolitan Council
and Bangkok Governor, Member of Pattaya City Council
and Pattaya City Mayor

As the current Members of Bangkok Metropolitan Council Elections and the Bangkok Governor, Member of Pattaya City Council and Pattaya City Mayor elected on 22 May 2022, will complete their terms of office on 21 May 2026, the Election Commission must organize an election within 45 days from the date of the expiration of the term, pursuant to Section 11 of the Election of Members of Local Assemblies or Local Administrators Act, B.E. 2562 (2019) and its amendments.
Section 61 and Section 64 of the Election of Members of Local Assemblies or Local Administrators Act, B.E. 2562 (2019) and its amendments have prescribed the election expenses and campaigning methods for candidates as follows:
1. Period for Calculating Candidate Election Expenses: In the case of an election held due to the expiration of a term of office, expenses shall be calculated from 180 days prior to the date of term expiration until Election Day. Therefore, the expense calculation period shall take effect from 22 November 2025, until Election Day.
2. Campaigning Period for Candidates: In the case of an election held due to the expiration of a term or age, campaigning is permitted from 180 days prior to the date of term expiration or age expiration until 6:00 PM (18:00 hrs) of the day preceding Election Day. Therefore, the election campaigning period shall take effect from 22 November 2025, until 6:00 PM of the day preceding Election Day.
3. Campaigning Restrictions: Election campaigning must not be conducted in any manner that violates Section 65 of the Election of Members of Local Assemblies or Local Administrators Act, B.E. 2562 (2019) and its amendments, as well as the Regulations of the Election Commission on Election Campaigning and Prohibitions for Members of Local Assemblies or Local Administrators, B.E. 2563 (2020) and its amendments.
In this regard, the Director of the Election Commission of Bangkok Metropolitan Area and the Director of the Election Commission of Chonburi Province have officially announced the designated maximum amounts for candidate election expenses, with details available in the attached documents.
