Following dissemination through various media channels of reports stating that “the Election Commission resolved by a vote of 4 to 3 not to accept the money trail from the Department of Special Investigation” for consideration in the inquiry file concerning the selection of the Senators,

The Office of the Election Commission wishes to clarify that, upon examining the minutes of the Election Commission’s Meeting No. 4/2026, held on 12 January 2026, it was found that: “The Election Commission considered the matter and, by a vote of 4 to 3, resolved not to accept copies of documentary evidence or any other relevant evidence, including the opinions of the panel of special case investigation officers or persons with legal authority, in accordance with Special Case Investigation File No. 24/2025.” In this regard, during the meeting, The Election Commission discussed that, at that time, the Commission had not yet received the inquiry file on the selection of the Senators from the Sub-Committee No.36 on the Adjudication and Determination of Issues or Disputes, and therefore had not yet requested to receive the inquiry file and all related documents from the Department of Special Investigation. The minutes of this meeting made no reference to, nor did they contain any proposal concerning details of the financial transactions (“money trail”) of any particular individual for the Election Commission to accept for consideration. Furthermore, during the 11 meetings held to consider the inquiry file concerning the selection of the Senators, no Election Commissioner requested that Special Case Investigation File No. 24/2025 be taken into consideration in any way.

The Office of the Election Commission therefore makes this clarification known
to the public. Further information is available on the Office of the Election Commission’s website at www.ect.go.th, or call the 1444 hotline.
