OECT Files Police Complaint Over iLaw’s Publication of ECT Deputy Secretary-General’s Opinion on Senate Selection Case

On 28 August 2026, Mr. Kanchit Charoenin, Deputy Secretary-General of the Election Commission, filed a police complaint with the Crime Suppression Division, Central Investigation Bureau, to pursue legal action over iLaw’s publication of a document containing his opinion concerning the Senate selection case. At the time, Mr. Kanchit was acting on behalf of
Mr. Sawang Boonme, Secretary-General of the Election Commission.
The action was taken to ensure that the facts are examined in accordance with the legal process and to maintain public confidence in the performance of duties by the Office of the Election Commission of Thailand, based on the principles of accuracy, transparency, and compliance with the law.
