Election Commission Emphasises Prohibitions in Election Campaigning for the Udon Thani Constituency 3 to Fill a Vacant Seat
Election to Be Held on Sunday, 30 August 2026

The Election Commission has determined that Sunday, 30 August 2026, from 08.00 to 17.00 hours, shall be the election day for a Member of the House of Representatives in Udon Thani Constituency 3, to fill a vacant seat. The constituency comprises Phen District, Sang Khom District, and Ban Khao Subdistrict of Mueang Udon Thani District. The Office of the Election Commission wishes to reiterate the prohibitions applicable to candidates and any person who undertakes any act intended to induce an elector to cast a vote for himself or herself or another candidate, refrain from voting for a particular candidate, or cast a vote for no candidate, including the following:
1. To make, provide, offer, promise to provide, or prepare to provide any property or other benefit that may be calculated in monetary terms to any person.
2. To give, offer, or promise to give money, property or any other benefit, whether directly or indirectly, to a community, association, foundation, temple, educational institution, welfare institution or any other institution.
3. To conduct election campaigning by organising entertainment or other forms of amusement.
4. To give a treat or agree to give a treat to any person.
5. To deceive, coerce, threaten, exercise influence to intimidate, make false defamatory statements, or induce an elector to misunderstand the popularity of a candidate or political party.
6. Election campaigning by candidates and political parties shall not be contrary to or inconsistent with the policies prescribed by the political party in accordance with the Organic Act on Political Parties.
7. No candidate shall arrange a vehicle to convey an elector to a polling station or to return an elector from a polling station, or arrange for an elector to travel to or from a polling station for the purpose of casting a vote, without payment of the normal fare or transportation charge.
8. No person shall undertake any act intended to induce or control an elector to vote for or against any candidate.
9. No person who is not of Thai nationality shall assist in an election campaign or undertake any act for the benefit of an election, whether favourable or adverse to any candidate or political party, except where such act constitutes assistance in the performance of official duties or is carried out honestly in the ordinary course of his or her occupation.
10. No State official shall unlawfully use his or her position or official duties to undertake any act favourable or adverse to any candidate or political party.
11. No person shall conduct election campaigning by any means, whether favourable or adverse to any candidate or political party, from 18.00 hours on the day preceding election day, 29 August 2026, until the end of election day on 30 August 2026.

The relevant laws and regulations prescribe the applicable periods, procedures and prohibitions governing election campaigning by candidates, political parties, political office holders and State agencies, all of which must be strictly observed. Any violation may be subject to a fine, imprisonment, revocation of voting rights, or dissolution of a political party, as provided by law.
