Workshop on Enhancing the Effectiveness of Intelligence Sources
Integrating Intelligence Cooperation to Prevent Violations of Election Laws

On 14 August 2026 at 9:50 hrs, Mr. Sitthichote Intaravises, Election Commissioner, presided over the opening ceremony of the Workshop on Enhancing the Effectiveness of Intelligence Sources, conducted under the Project on Enhancing Efficiency in Preventing Violations of Election Laws, Investigation, Inquiry, and Legal Proceedings before the Court. He also delivered a special lecture entitled “The Importance of Intelligence, Situations, and Trends in Election-Related Offences.” Mr. Supat Laohapiengsak, Specialist to the Election Commissioner, attended the opening ceremony, while Mr. Kanchit Charoenin, Deputy Secretary-General of the Election Commission, delivered welcoming remarks to the participants. The workshop was held at Wayupak 5 Meeting Room, 5th Floor, Centara Life Government Complex Hotel & Convention Centre, Chaeng Watthana, Bangkok.
The workshop was attended by 110 intelligence officers from the National Intelligence Agency, Internal Security Operations Command, Office of Security, Special Branch Bureau, Royal Thai Police, Office for Security Coordination with the Internal Security Operations Command of the Royal Thai Navy, and the Intelligence Division of the Ministry of Interior. The workshop aimed to enhance communication and coordination among agencies responsible for intelligence operations, as well as to develop intelligence officers’ accurate knowledge and understanding of the laws falling within the duties and powers of the Election Commission.
In addition, the workshop aimed to promote the establishment of networks and the exchange of experiences among intelligence officers, enabling them to effectively utilize intelligence and information obtained to support investigation, inquiry, and the deterrence of violations of election laws.
The activities included the exchange of intelligence information and situations among participating agencies, as well as the joint development of approaches for integrated intelligence cooperation. These efforts were intended to facilitate the linkage and exchange of information and strengthen inter-agency coordination mechanisms, enabling relevant agencies to systematically and promptly support missions relating to the prevention and suppression of election-related offences.
The establishment of networks and the integration of intelligence information among relevant agencies will enhance the effectiveness of information exchange, monitoring, and operational coordination. It will also support missions relating to investigation, inquiry, and the deterrence of violations of election laws, thereby contributing to the conduct of elections in an honest, transparent, impartiality, and fair manner.
